Find a Start at Home scheme

Start at Home is an initiative that brings together scheme organisers that help heating engineers to install a government-funded heat pump* at home - so you can try it yourself, master the install, and be ready for tomorrow’s heating jobs.

    • Grant Aerona heat pump (up to 12kW)

    Not included: Radiators and other standard plumbing/heating equipment

    • Grant will transfer £1500 to the installer towards installation costs after MCS sign off

    • Nationwide Grant heat pump training – a one-day course, either in person or online

    • System design support – through Grant’s in-house design team

    • Commissioning – Grant engineer will visit the site to check the installation and commission the heat pump

    • Extended guarantee – seven-year heat pump guarantee (must be signed up to the G1 Scheme) 

    • Technical support – available through our phone lines and website

    • MCS certified installation – signed off by our umbrella partner Heat Pump Go

    • Start with Grant is fully funded through the government BUS grant which will be applied for and claimed through our umbrella partnership with Heat Pump Go.

    • Installers cannot remove the heat pump or equipment supplied by Grant UK as part of the Start with Grant scheme to sell or re-install it in another house. This will be a breach of the terms and conditions and will result in the full BUS grant being recovered from the installer.

    • FREE MCS on-site commissioning and homeowner system handover, with SCOP and running cost estimates.

    • In-person on site support from day-1 to support you with the full project – this includes 2 project-based site visits by our Renewables Centre technical specialists.

    • Project portal for 24/7 online support.

    • MCS umbrella charge fully covered in the scheme.

    • The Renewables Centre Start at Home Scheme is funded through the government BUS grant which will be applied for and claimed through our Wolseley owned in-house umbrella, Renewable Equipment Solutions.

Alto Assured Start At Home

  • Each job will have a bespoke kit put together for you, comprising:

    • Air source heat pump up to 12kW

    • Hot water cylinder up to 300L

    • Heat pump controller

    • Plumbing installation kit including volumisers, external insulation etc.

    • Electrical installation kit including sub-board and MCBs specific to heat pump

    Not included: Radiators and other standard plumbing/heating equipment which you can purchase through your regular merchant.

    • Up to £1,000 cashback towards your installation costs, depending on the ASHP size

    • Free heat pump training: either our one-day course at our training centre in Oxfordshire or online at your convenience

    • MCS compliant heat pump design including room-by-room heat loss calculations, performance estimate, schematics and DNO applications, which we carry out on your behalf

    • Pre-start review with our technical team to answer any last minute questions, as well as ongoing technical throughout the installation

    • Commissioning by an Alto Energy engineer which we carry out with you to make sure everything is installed as per MCS and manufacturer requirements

    • MCS certification on the project as part of a complete handover pack with all the required heat pump documentation 

    • 7-year parts and labour warranty as standard

    • Alto Assured Start At Home is fully funded through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant throughout England and Wales, which will be applied for by Alto Energy prior to installation and redeemed following commissioning. Alto Assured Start At Home is fully funded through the Home Energy Scotland grant in Scotland.

    • Alto Energy can design and supply underfloor heating systems alongside the heat pump.

    • £1000 cashback for heat pumps up to 8kW and £500 for 8.5kW-12kW. Higher output heat pumps are available, a contribution towards costs may be required.
